Former ‘Top Model’ Star Jael Strauss Overcomes Drug Addiction
Jael Strauss first rose to fame in 2007 when she appeared on America’s Next Top Model, but nearly lost her life to meth addiction.
Strauss, now 32, admitted being a “full-blown meth addict” for six years and said it’s a “huge miracle” she didn’t die. She appeared on Dr. Phil for an intervention show in 2012, where fans were shocked to see her with rotting teeth and a body covered in sores.
Despite being reluctant at first, she agreed to Dr. Phil’s offer of a free inpatient rehab stint. Strauss has remained clean and sober since then and has stayed committed to turning her life around.
“I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life. This journey was very unexpected. I’ve been sober for three years and three months now. Not a drink, not a pill, not a joint, not a line, nothing,” she recently told TooFab. “It’s really amazing. It’s a huge miracle to still be breathing after what I was up to and I’m so grateful. Whatever path and twists and turns I had to take to get here, I don’t regret any of them.”
