Nick Cannon Hospitalized With Lupus Complications

Nick Cannon’s chronic illness is putting a dent on his holiday plans. The singer and TV personality will be hospitalized through the holiday season due to complications related to his lupus.

Cannon took to his Instagram account last Thursday (Dec. 22) and posted a photo of himself in a hospital bed. He explained that the autoimmune disease forced an extended hospital stay, but that he will make a full recovery.

“For all who have been trying to contact me the last few days, this is where I’ve been. And I will be in the hospital through Christmas,” he wrote. All good though. Doctors say I will be back to normal before the New Year. #Lupussucks #ncredible #warrior.”

The singer has long been open about his condition. He first told Us Weekly in 2012 that he was living with lupus, but has learned over the years how to avoid flare-ups and the “proper things to eat” in order to keep his hospital visits to a minimum.

“When you hear the words ‘autoimmune disease’ or ‘lupus,’ it’s like, ‘Whoa, what is that?’ That’s how I felt, and that’s how my family and friends felt as well,” he said last February to Huffington Post. “But you realize it’s something that you can live with and actually overcome with the proper research and with the proper support system.”

Supportive Care Matters would like to wish Cannon a safe and healthy recovery.
